There I was..... My first real turbine job. The boss was checking me out in a LongRanger during short tour fllghts around the city. I was left seat, the boss, right. The tours were about 20 minutes at night viewing the pretty lights.

Unfortunately we did not have the co-pilot pedals installed. I knew this but the boss must have forgot!

Power changes were at a minimum so the yaw was small during the flights. As we made an approach to the heliport and I pulled in pitch, obviously the helicopter yawed into a nice accelerating turn. The boss did not want to startle the passengers by asking "what the heck are you doing you dumb greenhorn?" over the intercom so he just looked at me funny from across the cabin.

I myself thought he was just giving me a hard time or testing my reactions.

After about the fourth tour that night and him repeatedly stabbing pedal for me the light bulb came on in his head like a ton of bricks!

We now communicate much better.
