(CBS4) BROOMFIELD, Colo. Nobody was killed after a helicopter crashed at the airport in Broomfield.

The crash happened at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport late Wednesday afternoon.

Four to five people were aboard the helicopter, according to North Metro fire. Two of the passengers may have been taken to area hospitals. Others were seen being treated at the crash site.

There was no word on what caused the crash.

The helicopter, a Bell Jet Ranger, has an excellent safety record. It's known as the safest aircraft in the sky, according to some pilots.

The tail rotor came off the helicopter and wedged into a hangar nearby.

The crash did not affect operations at the airport.
