COLUMBIA - A helicopter landed on it's side on Stadium Dr. in northwest Columbia.
The first happened when a helicopter owned by Triple-s had a rough take-off and a hard landing on Columbia's northwest side around 2 p.m.
The Bell helicopter was taking off from a field near the 2600 block of North Stadium when something went wrong.
"Apparently when the pilot was trying to take off, skipped on the ground, caught a rotor on the ground obviously and it uh, flipped it to where it's currently located," said Captain Zim Schwartze from the Columbia Police Department (CPD).
The pilot of the helicopter walked away from the crash and was later treated for minor cuts and abrasions.
CPD said debris from the crash was found several blocks away and may have caused damage to a residence in the Valley View Gardens subdivision.
Federal Aviation Administration representatives will continue to investigate this crash.
