Helicopter Employment Resources
"I was looking for a job when I came here, I'll be looking for a job when I leave..." - Overheard by a Contract Pilot in Alaska
Treat everyone you meet in the helicopter industry as if they will be your potential employer or employee because this industry is small. You don't have to follow this advice (you can tell a bad employer to f-off) but realize this limits your job opportunities.
When you are sending your resume, send only one page. Remember, pilots have a short attention span and a long winded resume might make it into the trash quicker.
Use your connections when looking for work. Call up everyone you know and ask who's hiring. Most helicopter jobs are found by word-of-mouth.
Don't pad your logbook. It's too easy to add flight time that isn't real (especially if you fly like you have more hours) but remember, it's always better to get the job honestly.
Remember that during a job interview, you are interviewing your potential employer also. If you don't have a good feeling about the company, go someplace else. A job is not worth losing your life over.
