April 16, 2007 Hostile Fire Not Believed A Factor US and British military officials in Iraq confirmed early Sunday two British transport helicopters are down north of Baghdad. Two British soliders were killed in the apparent midair collision, and at least one other was injured. The accident occurred over a rural area southwest of Taji, near a large US air base. Initial media reports misidentified the Eurocopter AS332 Super Puma helicopters as American. Enemy fire is not believed to be a factor. "Initial reports indicate that the crash was an accident and was not a result of an attack by insurgents," UK Defense Secretary Les Browne said. "An investigation is under way and I will not comment further on the details of the incident at this stage." FMI:
