LA Fire Department Awards NVG Upgrade Contract to Aero Dynamix

EULESS, TX – Aero Dynamix received notice of contract award from Los Angeles Fire Department to upgrade up to five AgustaWestland AW-139 helicopters used in search and rescue, aerial firefighting and other missions conducted by the Air Operations unit.

The NVG upgrades will be accomplished over 24 months and will encompass internal NVIS avionics modifications, edge lit panels and instrument overlays, switches and warning indicators, and external navigation and anti-collision lights.

Aero Dynamix previously completed STC approved NVG upgrades for LAFD’s Bell Jet Ranger and two Bell 412s. “The fit and finish of all three aircraft was as advertised” says Scot Davison, LAFD Command Pilot. “Nighttime readability of these cockpits is exemplary making the transition from aided to unaided flight effortless. Daylight readability is also excellent and exceeded our expectations.”
