American Heroes Air Show Lands in Georgia

Buckle up the entire family for high-flying excitement when the American Heroes Air Show, the nation's premier aviation event devoted exclusively to helicopters, returns to the community of Canton outside Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday, September 10th.

Since it’s inception in 1993 near Los Angeles, this admission-free event has grown from coast to coast by introducing the public to the unique capabilities and dynamic role of helicopters in our community every day. Event Director Mike Grier, a Sergeant with Cherokee County Sheriffs, invites families get an up-close look at these go-fast, high-tech aircraft and learn how their crews are on the front lines every day of homeland security, national defense and public service.

Dedicated to educating the public as to the unique capabilities of helicopters in law enforcement, fire service, public / private EMS, homeland defense and national security, this admission-free event invites helicopters from local, regional, state and U.S. Military operators. Event Director Grier hopes to bring together a broad section of the community to meet the crews and get an up-close and personal look at the role helicopters play in public safety. “I know all the crews are looking forward to meeting the individuals many of us serve on a daily basis,” Grier notes. “ Often when we come in contact with someone it is when they are having what may be the worst day of their lives. This air show provides the public with a unique chance to spend time with the crews and learn about their mission and capabilities -- that gives me a great feeling.”

More than Just an Air Show
The event also offers the “American Anthem” presentation which invites the community to participate in a compelling ceremony as serving military members recite their Oath of Allegiance and become U.S. Citizens. "This will be a memorable way for our community to honor and respect those serving in our military", explained Event Director Grier.
Grier has been working for months with the team from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services on the scheduling and presentation details. “It’s been an eye-opening privilege to work with USCIS from Atlanta,” Grier noted. “The naturalization ceremony fits in well with the theme of the American Heroes Air Show … and it will be a vivid reminder to our guests that many serving our country in the military are fighting to defend citizenship benefits that they themselves don’t fully enjoy.”

The naturalization ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. and the public is invited to attend. "Canton is honored to welcome these men and women who stand today and take the Oath of Allegiance while serving in the U.S. armed forces,” Grier explained. “They’ve always been America’s heroes … Canton is invited to watch as they become America’s newest citizens.”

The event also features the popular CODE1 Career Fair which offers the community a rare chance to meet recruiting teams from law enforcement, public safety, government service, volunteer agencies and the military who are on-scene to profile their mission and provide information on hiring, training and the application process.

A long tradition at American Heroes Air Shows around the country, collectible event trading cards are available and free in limited quantities to early bird event arrivals. These very popular trading cards feature photos of participating aircraft plus flight performance and mission profiles.

The American Heroes Air Show features musical entertainment, concessions, exciting demonstrations and the real heroes your familiy can really look up to!
