Adding to the activities scheduled for this year’s WomenVenture at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2010 are a daily radio program and an all-new forum.

The forum, scheduled for Thursday, July 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. is called, “Aviation Scholarships: Not Just for Kids.”  This forum is intended to brief the aviation community about scholarship opportunities for career enhancement or change and technical training, including flight training offered by the aviation industry.

“Companies and organizations have made it a priority to help grow the number of pilots and technicians and have made scholarship money available for motivated applicants,” says WAI President Dr. Peggy Chabrian.  “We want to get the word out that WAI’s scholarships are not just for college students.”

A daily radio show hosted by Dr. Chabrian, “WomenVenture Voices” will air each morning from 10 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. and feature interviews with women having a variety of backgrounds and accomplishments.  EAA Radio can be heard at 1210 AM and also streams live at www.eaa.org  during AirVenture.  At this time the interview schedule includes Anna Mracek Dietrich, COO Terrafugia; Ann Cooper, well known aviation writer; Patty Wagstaff, National Aerobatic Champion and air show performer; and Connie Bowlin, Warbird pilot and owner and retired Delta Air Lines pilot; Denise Waters, homebuilder, air racing pilot and A & P mechanic; Dorothy Cochrane, Curator, National Air and Space Museum.  Additional invited guests are Bonnie Dunbar, astronaut and Jessica Cox, the first pilot licensed to fly using only her feet.

“EAA Radio gives people worldwide an opportunity to share the excitement of WomenVenture if they are unable to come to Oshkosh,” says Dr. Chabrian.  “We will have a line up of fascinating women to share their personal histories with us.”

WomenVenture will expand to two days for 2010, and kicks off with an evening at Theater in the Woods on Thursday, July 29 at 7:00 pm. Dr. Chabrian will host a panel of inspiring women including NASA Astronaut Bonnie Dunbar and Space Station Commander Peggy Whitson.

The activities continue on Friday morning at 8 a.m. with the WAI Celebrity breakfast for all WomenVenture participants in the EAA Nature Center.  Tickets for this breakfast are available by calling WAI at (937) 839-4647 or at the Women in Aviation, International booth #2041 in Hangar B at EAA AirVenture.
