FDC/aerofilter today announced a new Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for an advanced engine inlet barrier filter (IBF) for the Eurocopter EC-135.

FDC developed this IBF system in response to operator demand. The innovative FDC design maintains the aircraft’s dynamic air intake flow providing unparalleled engine protection. The advanced light weight design incorporates a robust filter surface area maximizing capture efficiency. The filter elements are designed for fast and easy removal using quick disconnect fasteners. The system uses our Filter Heath Monitor which displays progressive filter blockage to the pilot with a series of LEDs. This real time cockpit monitoring system is a proven solution operating on our single and twin engine IBF systems around the globe. This certification milestone is the first engineering acheivement for the new business entity following the Aerometals’ acquisition of the operating assets of FDC/aerofilter.
