Female Embry-Riddle Students Given WAI Memberships

Female students at both campuses of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University have been given a one-year membership in Women in Aviation, International. Students at both the Prescott, Arizona, campus and the Daytona Beach, Florida, campus are now full WAI members. The 1,372 Embry-Riddle students will receive all WAI member benefits.

The membership costs were provided in part by Embry-Riddle and in part by a donor who is an alumni of the university. As WAI members, the female students will reap the benefits of WAI membership including qualifying to apply for WAI’s scholarships, reduced Conference fees, and networking and chapter activities. These new members will receive a digital version of Aviation for Women, WAI’s membership magazine.

“New members are the lifeblood of any organization,” says WAI President Dr. Peggy Chabrian. “We welcome the Embry-Riddle students and we are certain they will see the benefit of continuing their membership for many years to come.”

With the proximity of WAI’s 25th Anniversary Conference to be held at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida (near Orlando), from March 6-8, 2014, many of the new WAI Embry-Riddle members will be able to attend their first WAI conference.

“I must add that we are enthusiastic about adding any college or university’s students just like we have for Embry-Riddle,” says Dr. Chabrian. “The career guidance, recruiting and mentoring that takes place at WAI makes membership of great value to college women just starting their aviation careers. What’s more, our more mature members love the enthusiasm these college students bring.”
