ACCT and AgustaWestland Symposium Advances Future of Critical Care Transport

The Association for Critical Care Transport (ACCT) and AgustaWestland held the first-ever Symposium and Roundtable dedicated to the subject “Managing Time Dependent Disease Across the Landscape, Integrating High-Acuity Transport into the Web of Care.” The town-hall style panels and discussions were held over a two day period on June 7th and 8th in Chicago, Illinois.

With financial support from AgustaWestland and Spectrum Aeromed, the Symposium brought together physician, medical, and business leaders from over eighty leading-edge healthcare organizations to examine high acuity episodic medicine within the “triple aim” of improving the health outcomes of populations, improving patient experience, and improving healthcare cost effectiveness.

Co-chaired by Dr. Jeffrey Runge, President of Biologue Inc., and former Chief Medical Officer of the Department of Homeland Security, Thomas Judge, Executive Director of LifeFlight of Maine, and Lisa Tofil, Executive Director of the Association of Critical Care Transport, the Symposium brought together three panels of experts in healthcare policy, economics, critical care, medical transport, safety and research to explore the management of high acuity episodic medicine and time sensitive care within the rapidly changing healthcare system.

This Symposium is the first in what AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica Company, believes to be an ongoing series of events comprised of stakeholders coming together to discuss, and with anticipation, begin to sculpt the future of the critical care transport industry.

Robert Brant, VP of Sales & Marketing North America said, “AgustaWestland is acting on our commitment to support the communities that we serve through innovative and impactful efforts which advance the dialogue on the future of sustainable and effective medical transport enterprises.”

“The ACCT Symposium brought together the top thought leaders and healthcare organizations from across the United States and Canada. With the aim of progressing the dialogue on the future of critical care transport within the new US healthcare model, the event was a tremendous success,” said Lisa Tofil, Executive Director of ACCT. “We are deeply appreciative of the partnership that AgustaWestland continues to demonstrate through their support of ACCT and in particular, their support of this Symposium. We are also grateful to Spectrum Aeromed for their support.”

ACCT is engaged in defining the future landscape of critical care transport, ensuring that all patients, regardless of location and ability to pay and, in their most vulnerable times of need, are met by vehicles, whether it be helicopter, fixed-wing or ground transport, that have been selected because they are the safest, most capable and most efficient.
