Rotary and fixed wing emergency responder communities set to meet at dedicated Asia-Pacific exhibition and conference in Malaysia.

Recent humanitarian and environmental disasters across the Asia-Pacific region have prompted a massive response from the International community to help deliver humanitarian aid and assistance to countries affected by tsunami’s, earthquakes and wildfires.

A new exhibition and two day conference that will bring together those involved in providing aerial support during humanitarian and environmental disasters, as well as other types of relief, will take place on 27-28 October 2010 at the Crowne Plaza Mutiara, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The launch of Tangent Link’s Aerial Emergency Response and Helisphere event will bring together rotary and fixed wing operators, manufacturers and equipment suppliers who specialise in providing the framework to support civil emergencies, from those requiring multiple assets and responders down to individual cases, creating a dynamic environment for effective business networking and information sharing across these synergistic market places.

The rotorcraft business in the Asia-Pacific region has continued to witness order confirmations, and manufacturers have been robust in their assessment of future prospects.

Despite the recession, in October last year Eurocopter Malaysia CEO and President Pierre Nardelli was very positive about his company’s business prospects in the region saying: "We do not see any impact from the global economic slowdown for our operations in Malaysia." He added that his company was set to "aggressively expand its operations and inject additional investments into its aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities." In December last year the company announced that the Korean Coast Guard had ordered a third AW139 medium-twin helicopter, bringing to six the total number of this type ordered by the government of the Republic of Korea. Malaysia’s Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) is also a customer for the AW139.

AgustaWestland has also identified that the region is growing in importance.

There will be one all encompassing exhibition supporting both Helisphere and Aerial Emergency Response together with a two day conference designed to discuss broad areas of importance to both communities.

In the remit of Helisphere key themes of the event presented to attendees will address, Military operations in support of the civil power, airframe life extension programmes, training & safety issues, through life maintenance, maritime and general surveillance.

Aerial Emergency Response themes will include an examination of cross border medical missions, techniques for conducting rescue missions in difficult climactic / geographical conditions, and the latest in equipment for airborne emergency responders.
