The Georgia State Patrol Aviation Division recently had their grand opening ceremonies for two newly acquired field hangars.  One hangar is located at the Augusta Regional Bush Field Airport in Augusta, Georgia and the other at the Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport located in Gainesville, Georgia.

The new Augusta Hangar, located on the upper northwest side of the airport, will replace the old Thomson Hangar which was located in McDuffie County. This hangar will now serve as the new field hangar for East Georgia.   At 10,000 square feet, this hangar built by Richmond County will provide over 2500 square feet of space dedicated for administrative offices, a living, dining and kitchen area, laundry facilities, storage areas and bedrooms for the pilots and other GSP personnel as needed.

The new Gainesville Hangar is located on the lower southwest side of the airport and will serve as the new field hangar for northeast Georgia, replacing the Athens Hangar.   This new 5600 square foot hangar, provided by Hall County, was also constructed to include an internal three level structure providing approximately 3500 square feet of ample space for administrative offices, a living, dining and kitchen area, laundry facility, storage area and several bedrooms for pilots and other GSP personnel.

The GSP Aviation Division is excited and welcomes these much needed facilities and is looking forward to continuing the high level of public safety and service to the residents of Georgia.
