Russian Helicopters showed strong production and financial growth in 2013

Moscow - In 2013, Russian Helicopters, a subsidiary of Oboronprom, part of State Corporation Rostec, produced 303 helicopters for Russian and international customers, with an anticipated consolidated profit in excess of 140 billion roubles*. Preliminary results were voiced at the Russian Helicopters board meeting which reviewed performance in the helicopter sector over the past year and outlined its main priorities for 2014.

“In 2013 Russian Helicopters continued to develop as a modern, highly efficient and dynamic Russian company,” Russian Helicopters CEO Alexander Mikheev said. “We completed the state defence order in full, supplied combat helicopters to export and produced dozens of batches of safe, reliable commercial helicopters for Russian and international customers.”

Helicentre Aviation’s East Midlands Heliport Officially Opens

Helicentre Aviation’s new East Midlands heliport complex which has been built at Leicester Airport has officially opened. The £500,000 expansion of Helicentre Aviation’s operations includes a brand new hangar, offices and ground training facilities, an apron and six helipads and the company also provides Jet A1 and AvGas refueling services, handling and hangarage to visiting helicopters.

The development coincides with the award of an eight year contract to survey gas pipelines for National Grid, and continued expansion of their training academy has brought about a number of new positions to add to the existing 20-strong workforce.

 

Sikorsky Innovations Wins Phase 1 VTOL X-Plane Contract

Sikorsky Innovations, the technology development organization of Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., has won a contract for Phase 1 of the Vertical Take-Off and Landing Experimental Aircraft (VTOL X-Plane) program by the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).

The proposed effort is valued at $15 million to develop the preliminary design for the VTOL X-Plane, a high-speed vertical takeoff-and-landing aircraft with the hover capability of a helicopter.

Brunei Royal Air Force Takes Delivery of Two S-70i BLACK HAWKS

The Ministry of Defence at the Brunei International Defence Exhibition (Bridex) accepted two Sikorsky S-70i™ BLACK HAWK helicopters into the Royal Brunei Air Force following an unveiling attended by His Majesty the Sultan. Two more Sikorsky S-70i BLACK HAWK helicopters are currently undergoing the process of acceptance at the Royal Brunei Air Force. Equipped with a suite of advanced avionics and sensors, the multirole aircraft can perform a variety of missions over land and water, including search and rescue, humanitarian relief, anti-piracy, troop transport and medical evacuation.

Waypoint Leasing Takes Delivery Of Two EC225's

Two EC225s delivered Dec. 11 are the initial Eurocopter-built aircraft in the portfolio of Waypoint Leasing, a leading global helicopter leasing company. Waypoint has signed an agreement to provide the aircraft to Avincis Group’s subsidiary, Bond Helicopters Australia, to use for offshore crew change missions.

The EC225 handovers to Waypoint Leasing occurred at Eurocopter’s Marignane, France production facility, and were accepted in a process including the participation of a team from Bond Helicopters Australia. After the aircraft’s arrival in Australia, the helicopters will be used to service Bond’s multi-million dollar, five year contract with the PTTEP Australasia Group of Companies – which is part of Thailand’s national petroleum exploration and production company.

German Law Enforcement Order Six EC145's

Germany’s Landespolizei Baden Württemberg has ordered six Eurocopter EC145 T2 helicopters, becoming the first law enforcement customer for this evolved version of the popular EC145 twin-engine rotorcraft.

When delivered in 2015-2016, these EC145 T2s will provide the southwestern German state's police force with a highly capable multi-role fleet to replace a mixed fleet of two other helicopter types.
