Bell Helicopter Wins Contract with NYPD for Four Bell 429s

FORT WORTH, TEXAS – Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. company (NYSE: TXT), announced today a signed agreement with the New York Police Department for four Bell 429 helicopters. The aircraft will be used for airborne law enforcement patrol, serving the citizens of New York City and surrounding jurisdictions. The NYPD currently has three Bell 412EPs in service for a variety of missions ranging from search and rescue at sea to gathering intelligence and combating terrorism. Delivery of the NYPD’s new Bell 429s is anticipated to be complete in 2015.

Aspen Announces EASA Minor Change Approval

Albuquerque, NM:  Aspen Avionics today announced its Evolution EFD 1000H Pro has gained EASA minor change approval (MCA) for installation on the Eurocopter AS355.

Avionik Straubing of Germany designed the engineering package for the certification and partnered with Instruments de Precision de la Cote Ouest (IPCO) of France, which performed the installation. The minor change approval covers Eurocopter AS355 models AS355E, AS355F, AS355F2, AS355N, and AS355NP.


HeliVert gets AR IAC approval for production of commercial AW139

Moscow Region - HeliVert, a joint venture between Russian Helicopters and AgustaWestland, has received a Certificate of Approval from the Aviation Register of the Interstate Aviation Committee (AR IAC) for production of the AW139 commercial helicopter. The certificate is valid for two years.

“The Certificate of Approval confirms the company’s right to assemble commercial AW139s in strict compliance with the AR IAC’s Aviation Regulations”, HeliVert CEO Alexander Kuznetsov said at the award ceremony. “We are continuing to progress the HeliVert project in line with the joint plan adopted by our Italian and Russian shareholders.”


Swiss EMS Pioneer, Air Zermatt AG, selected Becker Avionics Digital Aircraft Audio System for new Bell 429 Fleet

Miramar, FL -- Air Zermatt AG in Switzerland selected the Becker Avionics DVCS6100 digital aircraft audio system, for their new fleet of Bell Helicopter 429 light-twin helicopters.
Air Zermatt selected Becker's DVCS because it allows their flight crews to select and control all onboard communication devices for inbound and outbound communications, including; public address, warning systems, radios and crew intercommunications. Additionally, the system has an excellent man-machine interface, proven field reliability, and is able to transmit on up to 8 channels simultaneously, along with providing a radio relay feature. All of these features plus its crystal-clear audio quality made DVCS their intercom system of choice.

Shadin First FAA Certification of Class 2 iPad EFB

Shadin Avionics recently announced  the flyTab Aircraft Interface Module (AIM), which received an FAA TSO certification in June of 2013, has now been certified on a NAV CANADA CRJ200. This certification is the first FAA-conforming on-aircraft implementation of an iPad-based Class 2 electronic flight bag (EFB). The AIM is a key component of the flyTab system, developed in conjunction with Shadin Avionics, Avionics & Systems Integration Group (ASIG) and SpatiOS, an AppOrchard company.
