Curtiss-Wright Launches Enhanced Family of Rugged LCD Touchscreen Displays at ALEA 2014

ALEA 2014 (Booth #228), PHOENIX, Ariz. – Curtiss-Wright Corporation (NYSE: CW) today announced that its Defense Solutions division has introduced an improved and enhanced family of high reliability, feature-rich, rugged touchscreen LCD displays specially designed for use aboard airborne surveillance platforms. The displays speed and simplify the integration of HD video for use by airborne surveillance crew members. The AVDU3000 is a 12.1" LCD display and the larger AVDU3600 is a 14.1” LCD display. Both displays feature sophisticated control and video handling capabilities designed specifically for the unique demands of airborne law enforcement applications such as surveillance, patrol and search & rescue. Use of these user-configurable touchscreen displays enables flight crewmembers to control the aircraft’s video recorders and video switches without having to divert their eyes from the screen.

KONGSBERG and AgustaWestland Sign Agreement for Increased Co-operation

Kongsberg Defence Systems (KONGSBERG) and Finmeccanica - AgustaWestland today signed a protocol for extending and increasing co-operation relating to Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) of dynamic components (including various gear boxes) for the NH90 helicopter and a range of AgustaWestland helicopters. The protocol is an overarching agreement outlining the intentions of making KONGSBERG a Centre of Excellence for MRO of dynamic components in Northern Europe. Key elements of the agreement are related to the transfer of technology that includes the establishment of advanced test equipment that will enable the full functional testing of gear boxes at KONGSBERG in Norway.

San Antonio Police Department puts two new Airbus Helicopters EC120’s into service, now operates all-Airbus Helicopters fleet

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – Airbus Helicopters Inc. (AHI) is pleased to announce that the San Antonio Police Department has placed two new EC120’s into service, giving them an all-Airbus Helicopters helicopter fleet for patrol and search-and-rescue missions.

Deployment the new EC120’s marks the beginning of a fleet upgrade project that will likely result in the purchase of at least one more EC120 over the next few years. The agency also operates an Airbus Helicopters AS350B3 for use in fire-fighting, search and rescue and other special missions.
