Russian Helicopters to supply Mi-171E for Kazakhstan Emergencies Ministry

Russian Helicopters, a subsidiary of Oboronprom, part of State Corporation Rostec, has signed an agreement with the Kazakhstan Emergencies Ministry for a Mi-171E helicopter, with delivery planned for 2015.

Airlift is awarded with Super Puma NVIS STC from EASA

Airlift's EASA Part-21 Design Organization (DOA) has been awarded with Supplemental Type Certificate (EASA STC number 10049153) for the installation and certification of Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) lighting for Airbus Helicopters AS332 L/L1 Super Pumas with the certification of the first helicopter, an AS332 L1 operated by the Icelandic Coast Guard, ordered by MRO specialist Heli-One, Norway (CHC Group).

Russian Helicopters and KRET to establish Helicopter Avionics Integration Centre

Russian Helicopters, a subsidiary of Oboronprom, part of State Corporation Rostec, and Concern Radio-Electronic Technologies (KRET), also part of Rostec, have signed an agreement to establish a Helicopter Avionics Integration Centre (HAIC) to help boost the competitiveness of Russia’s helicopter industry on the global market. The agreement was signed at HeliRussia 2014 by KRET CEO Nikolay Kolesov and Russian Helicopters CEO Alexander Mikheev.

The European Helicopter Safety Team (EHEST) recently published a safety booklet on flying in hilly or mountainous terrain. The booklet explains weather phenomena unique to that type of terrain and offers mitigation techniques for operating in those areas.

Important to Notify FAA of Planned Communication Service Changes

FAA Equipment installed under the FAA’s Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) program to enhance aviation safety in the Gulf of Mexico consists of the following major systems: Remote Air/Ground Communications (RCAG), ADS-B, and Automated Weather Observation Stations (AWOS). On April 25, 2014, at an offshore platform with an FAA RCAG, the new communication service provider performed an equipment/service cut-over without the knowledge of the FAA. The result was a complete loss of VHF communication between FAA’s Houston Center and helicopters operating in the vicinity of the platform.

AAR Expands Support of Boeing’s U.S. Army CH-47 Helicopter Recapitalization Program

GARDEN CITY, New York– AAR (NYSE: AIR) has won a contract that expands its component repair support of The Boeing Company’s Helicopter Recapitalization Program for the U.S. Army. Under a five-year general terms agreement on Multi Year II, AAR will overhaul multiple components on the CH-47 Chinook helicopter. This is a significant increase over AAR’s portion of Boeing’s initial Multi Year I program.
