Letters of intent for the SKYe SH09 helicopter reach a total of 59x orders

Switzerland - With the presentation of the first prototype of the SKYe SH09 at the 2014 Heli Expo, Marenco Swisshelicopter confirms the great interest from operators and positive response from the worldwide helicopter market.

A total of 11x additional letters of intent were signed in the time-frame of the Heli Expo, which places the company’s book-order at a level of 59x aircraft for deliveries ranging from 2015 to 2017.

Bell Helicopter Opens New Composite Facility in Broussard, LA

LAFAYETTE, LA  – Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. company (NYSE: TXT), celebrated a ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday announcing its newly-constructed composite facility in Broussard, LA. The new facility represents a $4.5 million investment by Bell Helicopter and was achieved through collaboration with the Lafayette Economic Development Authority (LEDA).

Night Vision Awards Announces Call for Entries for 2014 Awards at ALEA Annual Conference and Exhibition

BOISE, Idaho- The Night Vision Awards selection committee announced today they are now accepting nominations for the 2014 Night Vision Awards Show to be held in Phoenix, AZ at the Airborne Law Enforcement Association’s (ALEA) annual conference. Awards will be presented to recipients on Thursday, July 17 at an awards reception from 4:30-5:30 p.m.

The Night Vision Awards are a bi-annual event with ceremonies hosted by Aviation Specialties Unlimited, Night Flight Concepts, Vertical Magazine and Rotorcraft Pro Magazine at ALEA in July and NightCon in August. The purpose of this event series is to promote operational leadership and excellence in the use of night vision, in North America and around the world. 

Gulf Helicopters’ AW139 Fleet Achieves 50,000 Hour Milestone

AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, is pleased to announce that the AW139 intermediate twin engine helicopter fleet operated by Gulf Helicopters of Qatar has achieved the milestone of 50,000 flight hours.


Gulf Helicopter is one of the largest AW139 operators worldwide and a prime player in the Middle East with 17 helicopters of this type already in service. Gulf Helicopters first ordered the AW139 in 2007 for offshore transport missions as part of its fleet renewal and expansion plans. Gulf Helicopters is also an AgustaWestland authorized service centre for AW139s and also one of the first helicopter companies to have its own AW139 full flight simulator to support its own operations and for third party use. Additionally, Gulf Helicopters was established as an AgustaWestland Authorised Training Centre for the type in September 2013. 

Russian helicopter fleet posts solid growth in Latin America

Moscow - Russian Helicopters, a subsidiary of Oboronprom, part of State Corporation Rostec, has seen sustainable growth in demand from Latin America, which is home to one of the largest fleets of Russian-built helicopters in the world – and one that is continuing to expand.

“The fleet of Russian-built helicopters in Latin America has grown by 6% over the last three years, from 385 machines in 2011 to 409 at the start of 2014,” Russian Helicopters CEO Alexander Mikheev said. “Our products are recognised around the world for their reliability and efficiency, and this helps us not only to maintain our traditionally strong position in Latin America but also to grow our presence in this fast-growing market.”
