Rotorsim to continue expansion with world’s first AW169 full-flight simulator and addition of an AW189 simulator in UK

Anaheim, CA – Today at the Helicopter Association International Heli-Expo show, Rotorsim, owned equally by CAE (NYSE: CAE; TSX: CAE) and AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, announced that it is continuing to expand with the purchase of two CAE 3000 Series Level D helicopter simulators.

Rotorsim will add the world’s first-ever AW169 full-flight simulator to the Rotorsim Training Centre, which is part of the AgustaWestland ‘A. Marchetti’ Training Academy in Sesto Calende, Italy.  The CAE 3000 Series AW169 simulator will be ready-for-training in mid-2015.

Sloane Helicopters Signs Contract for Two GrandNew Helicopters

AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, is pleased to announce the order by Sloane Helicopters for two GrandNew light twin helicopters. The helicopters are expected to be delivered in 2015 and will be operated for VVIP and passenger transport missions.

 

This latest order by Sloane Helicopters further expands the already successful presence of AgustaWestland helicopter models in the light twin category in UK and Ireland, where Sloane has sold a total of 66 units from the AW109 legacy and Grand/GrandNew helicopters performing a range of roles including VIP/corporate transport, law enforcement and EMS.

H.W. Farren Aircraft Transportation Goes the Long Haul for Columbia Helicopters

Randolph, NJ - H.W. Farren, a division of Farren International, has been contracted by Columbia Helicopters to transport an undisclosed numbers of CH-47 Chinook Helicopters.  The move originates on March 3, in Meridianville, AL.   The first three helicopters will be shrink wrapped, padded and tarped to insure a fully protected package and then shipped to their final destination in Aurora, OR.  Each move will take place over several days and will cover over 2,600 miles. 

Waypoint Leasing to acquire 12 EC225 and 25 EC145 T2 rotorcraft from Airbus Helicopters

LORD Corporation’s Active Vibration Control System Selected by  Bell Helicopter for the Bell 525 Relentless Helicopter

Cary, NC – LORD Corporation, a leader in the management of vibration, noise and motion control, has announced the award of an Active Vibration Control System (AVCS) contract with Bell Helicopter for the Bell 525 Relentless program. 

 

LORD will qualify its AVCS system design and manufacture the AVCS system for the new aircraft.  The technology operates through the use of accelerometers that measure aircraft vibration levels. Signals are sent to a centralized computer that runs a software algorithm that interprets the data and sends commands to force generators located throughout the aircraft. These force generators create “anti-vibration” that stops the progression of vibration due to the main rotor.
