GKN Extends Supply of Predator UAS Fuel Bladders

GKN Aerospace has signed a long term agreement with General Atomics covering the supply of a 'fit and forget' fuel bladder system for the Predator medium-altitude, long-endurance unmanned aircraft system (MALE UAS).

These upgraded Predator UAS fuel bladders have been designed and developed by GKN Aerospace working closely with General Atomics.Initial production took place at the GKN Aerospace facility in Portsmouth, UK and then transferred to the company's Tallassee, Alabama facility in 2010. Over 75 ship sets have been delivered to date. The new contract extends this manufacture, requiring GKN Aerospace to supply a further 100 fuel bladder systems through to the end of 2014. Manufacture will continue at the GKN Aerospace facility in Alabama.

AgustaWestland Awarded UK MoD Merlin Life Sustainment Programme and Apache Integrated Operational Support Contracts Valued at £760 Million

AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, is pleased to announce the award of two contracts by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD), together valued at £760 million (approximately €910 million), to convert 25 AW101 Merlin helicopters for maritime operations under the Merlin Life Sustainment Programme (MLSP) and to provide the Apache AH Mk.1 Attack Helicopter fleet with comprehensive support and maintenance services for five years. The contracts were announced today by The Rt Hon Philip Hammond MP, Secretary of State for Defence, during a visit to AgustaWestland’s facility in Yeovil, England.

Soloy Announces Honeywell Engine Price Changes for 2014

Olympia, WA – Soloy Aviation Solutions announced that operators of AS350B, BA and B2 helicopters may now select from a wide variety of engine configurations to better meet their operational or budgetary requirements.

For the AS350B and BA models, the LTS101-600A-3A will be available in 12 price configurations, varying from $281,000 for the basic engine to $415,000 for the zero time since overhaul version. The zero overhaul configuration includes new extended life air cooled GP turbine blades and all zero life limited/cycle limited components.
