Russian Helicopters to showcase latest Russian developments at Heli Expo 2013

Las Vegas / 4 March 2013 – Russian Helicopters, a subsidiary of Oboronprom, part of Russian Technologies State Corporation and a leading global designer and manufacturer of helicopters, will showcase the Ka-62, Mi-171A2 and Ka-32A11BC at Heli Expo 2013, taking place in Las Vegas from 5-7 March.

Metro Aviation debuts new training center

Air medical transportation and helicopter completions leader, Metro Aviation has announced the completion of a new comprehensive training center co-located at the company's main offices in Shreveport, Louisiana.  The 12,000 square foot facility is complete with the latest generation learning tools dedicated to safety and efficiency through training.  The company will provide advanced training presentations and techniques to its staff of over 700 maintenance technicians and pilots located around the United States.  Engine manufacturer Turbomeca will also provide customer training at the facility in northern Louisiana in addition to FAA pilot and maintenance testing authorization expected later this year. 

REACH Air Medical Services’ A109A Passes 10,000 Hour Milestone

During a ceremony at Heli-Expo today AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, recognized REACH Air Medical Services for passing the 10,000 flight hour milestone with one of its Agusta A109A helicopters. The 10,000 flight hour milestone was recently passed by aircraft N21RX during a flight training mission with pilots Tim Karwal, Jason Dykstra and Director of Operations Vicky Spediacci onboard.

Universal Avionics’ Radio Control Unit Approved for Helicopters

TUCSON, AZ – Universal Avionics recently completed the required testing to successfully approve its Radio Control Unit (RCU) for helicopter installation. The RCU is a mature product, and has successfully been installed in 28 fixed wing aircraft platforms. Now, the unit is approved for helicopter-specific vibration profiles, signifying a new installation platform for the product.

Universal Avionics’ Airborne Datalink System  Approved for Helicopters

TUCSON, AZ – Universal Avionics recently completed helicopter vibration testing and approval for its airborne datalink system, UniLink UL-800/801 Communications Management Unit (CMU). UniLink UL-800/801 CMU adds to Universal’s expanding line of products designed for the unique requirements of the helicopter market.

Under RTCA DO-160F, “Environmental Conditions and Test Procedures for Airborne Equipment,” specific vibration testing for rotorcraft is required above and beyond those for fixed-wing aircraft. Universal Avionics’ UniLink UL-800/801 CMU was successfully tested to this standard, therefore allowing installation and certification of the unit in the high-vibration environment of rotorcraft platforms.

MARPA CO-FOUNDER GEORGE POWELL JOINS ABLE AEROSPACE

At Bell Helicopter, he continued in executive management roles as the Director of Quality and Commercial Support. Powell is also experienced with TC/PC Holders and is recognized as an expert in FAA regulatory rules and regulations.
