Boston MedFlight Begins Aircraft Fleet Upgrade With Purchase of EC145 from American Eurocopter

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (January 17, 2013) -- American Eurocopter, the leading provider of helicopters to the U.S. air medical transport industry, today announced that Boston MedFlight has placed an order for an EC145 helicopter for emergency air medical transport.

Boston MedFlight is a not-for-profit organization providing critical care transport service. Using state-of-the-art air and ground vehicles and equipment, Boston MedFlight provides the highest level of care to more than 2,700 patients a year, transporting more than 49,000 critical patients since its founding in 1985. As a not-for-profit organization, Boston MedFlight is financially supported in part by a consortium of Boston hospitals including Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston Medical Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital Boston, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Tufts Medical Center.

Cobham Granted HeliSAS™ EASA Certifications

MINERAL WELLS, Texas – Cobham has been granted Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval for its HeliSAS™ Stability Augmentation System and Autopilot by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). STC #10049171 allows installation of HeliSAS on a significant new range of Eurocopter helicopters, including: AS350B, B1, B2, B3, BA, D, and EC130B4 models across the European Union.

Turbomeca’s Arriel 2E engine is certified by EASA

The Turbomeca (Safran) Arriel 2E engine, has been certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The Arriel 2E, with a take-off power of 950 shp, will power the Eurocopter EC 145T2 helicopter. The first engines entry into service is scheduled end of 2013.
