Im currently 21, in AP school in new england, airframe certified and soon to be powerplant certified. I was wondering if any mechanics could share how they got into the industry, or recommend companies to apply to. I dont have any experience other than my school(which is also a certified repair station, but mainly fixed wing), I know this is where i want to go in the industry- any tips, advice would help, thanks

hope and pray. Helicopter A&P side is hard to get into. Best advice get an easy fixed wing job that has the same engines as some helicopters. More than likely the P&W PT-6. Or if you can afford a factory maintenance school. Usually 10k or more, some are less.

I got my initial training in the US Army. At that time they didn't have the programs they have now. I should have went through the complete A&P course at Texas Aero Tech(Now closed) for my Airfram and Powerplant ticket as I had been signed off for my A ticket, but, I had gotten married and needed to complete my schooling quickly to gain employment. My advice to you would be complete the entire course. When you go into the job market, look at the turnover rate of the company, if they are continuously advertizing for the same sites or same position, beware. Always follow the maintenance manual exactly.
