I am prior USAF. F-16 avionics tech. Can anyone tell me if I would qualify to test for my a&p? I didn't work any powerplant and very limited airframe. I did have 4 years in Avionics though. I am an out of work CFII and I am willing to try anything to help my resume out. Thanks.

Take all you training records and you DD214, the long form, to the nearest FAA FSDO (Field Service District Office). Find them in the phone book or at; http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/field_offices/fsdo/ Also read http://fsims.faa.gov/wdocs/8900.1/v05%20airman%20cert/chapter%2005/05_005_002rev1.pdf This will help you as to what Military training will be applied for an A&P. Also get your FCC GROL (General Radiotelephone Operator License) . With this you can work at most airlines, many avionics shop, or most repair stations. It is also good for ships, radio/TV stations and any other RF emitter. Hope this helps.
