Are there any jobs/companies out there that will take a helicopter A&P mech. and train him to be a helicopter pilot on there dime ? Have a bet going on that no one does this other than maybe train at there cost. Any info on this or advice.

49 people looked at this and no one has a word to say ? Nothing you heard, anything you know about this, has it happened, does it happen ? It never happens ?

yes it happens. I will do this for the right guy. This depends on the person as a person impressing me. Second is they have a clue about maintenance... My real desire is to trade a&p work for flight time.... Do you have your a&p? Even if you didn't... I would help you get it... let you do work and let you fly. But I'm not gonna pay you while you dink around.

Thanks for the reply, my son-in-law is getting ready to start school for A&P and also wants to fly. Just found out for airplanes not helicopters, but same principal applies. I told him no one will do it for free. May get a discount, I didn't think about barter, but another good option.

Good mechanics are the backbone of a company. They keep  the fleet running and dispachable. Pilots are a dime a dozend, but A&Ps  who get the job done right the first time are a very rare breed. I can imagine if an A&P has experience and the right attitude, maybe even an IA,  a company could be inclined to train him or give him a special deal.
But it depends on the company needs and insurance requirements for flying the equipment.
