Desire a helo for personal and commercial use (CFI).  My budget is right around 70-80k.  I have found several A and B model 269's.  Any opinions?  They seem to be about mid time.  The one I am most serious about needs an upper pulley bearing, M/R thrust bearing, in about 150 hours.  The next thing due is the M/R mast drive shaft in about 800 hrs.  I hate to guess the price of the drive shaft.  I know all helos are going to require maintanance but I want to be able to keep the thing flying.  I was also considering a hiller?  Any opinions are greatly appreciated.

Thank you

The 269B was my preferred instructional platform, at least compared to the 'C'. Very straight forward pilot's machine, only gotcha I recall was getting right pedal in for autorotations.
Never flew a Hiller. Looks like a whole bunch more machine than teaching requires.
I would appraise mech/tech support availability before making a specific type decision (like Hiller, "269B" VS "C, CB/CBi") have a reliable opinion rendered on anything I bought first. Haven't flown one, or taught, in a quarter century, but elastomeric MR dampers (if available for the old girl) and dual fuel tanks would be on my list.
