Yep. Ex 4-17 (E-trp) / 4-2(R-trp), Aco+Cco 2/82nd. And if you were in Kuwait, then we must know each other.

I was in F co 82nd CAB (1985) went to the MFO in 86' came back and moved to 1/82, then while waiting for orders to go to the 93B (buffer)course. The 1/82 went to Ft. Hood and I stayed behind (rear D), so I asked to be moved to 2/82 (Thanks to CSM J.P. Knott). Finally got orders to Mother Rucker, came back to A co. 1/82 stayed there until Spring of 1990, and never looked back. (I don't miss green ramp or pine cone ennimas).

I was "loaned out" by 8th ID in Germany when T/F was being set up for the gulf then went back to field the OH-58D's for 5th Corp. (85/86)

Then after the 1st desert classic I went back to 4/17 (maint troop) in 91, had a brief stint in D troop until the OH-58DI fielding and got sucked back into F troop until I retired in 95.

I don't miss being jammed in the back of C-130's with 2 warriors heading for places unknown, but I do miss shooting things.

Helping out the Navy in the gulf?  That is gold star freakin' military rotarcraft history in my book.  First uses of the 58D's?

I never made a gulf trip until after the desert classic, one trip was enough for me. I found out several things, I hate being on a boat for 45 days, there is way too much water out there, and flying at 30 to 50 ft is just scary.
Other than that ,,,it was all fun.
