I'm curious to know if anyone out there has experienced odd behavior from a governor (or related issue) in a R22 / R44 ??

What was the behavior, cause and fix?

Try spark plugs then the mags. However 9 out of 10 times it the RH magneto.

Or you're flying near some high power broadcasting towers. You can get some intermittent governor issues from that.

ive heard of this issue with the governor several times in the past.  have you, or someone u know actually experienced this first hand? and if so what actually happened?

Was it a slight surging or something more serious?

just curious.

We had issue with the governor (seemingly the GOV)roughly surging up/down during first cold runup of the day at that point of the startup checklist. Also Sprag Clutch check (throttle chop) would not split the needles distinguishably (though needles did split from 100%). AND during Autos, the throttle would only let the RPMs decrease to about 85%. We thought, Spark OR Fuel. Both Mags were replaced in previous 100 hour. So we replaced Fuel Control Servo Unit, works like a charm now. Hope this helps. It always flew smoothly without any deviation to RPM.
