Ive found plenty of info and charts on what pilots make for the major operators, especially in the Gulf of Mexico region, but little on what the pay scales for A&P's are. Anyone have any info on what an A&P with 20 yrs of experience, 15yrs on helicopters, 10 years with the same company should be making hourly or yearly? Thanks in advance.

A lot of what you will earn is based on your own barganing ability. I personally know mechanics with 15+ years that are making 30 per hour, and thier less agressive (read submissive will take what they can get from the employer just to have a job) are making 25 with 15+. You have to fight for anything you want, and the secret is to "sell yourself" to the prospective company. NEVER EVER EVER take thier word for what you will get paid. Everything must be in ink. Many will "bring you in" at xxx with a 90 day re-eval for the wage you originally asked for, this is a simple way to say,, you settled for that dollar amount and that is what you are going to get. ON the other hand, you go in for say 29 per hour, with a re eval after 90 days, they re-eval and want to cut pay,, you leave! no sense in waisting your time and thiers. Employment promises with " i will help you in the door, get you 4 budks an hour more than you are paid right now with another raise in 90 days of 4 bucks" that is all good and well, what happens if that guy gets fired, cant produce, or simply was talking out his azz then where are you. We are all in this to make money and enjoy to work on aircraft, for me specifically helicopters, 212,412,as350,as332,ect.. but i also want to be in a position to cease working when i hit 60 with all my goodies paid for. You will not be able to do that if you are not passionate about your work, and passionate about your level of pay!
