What job did you get Airflair?

McKinney could do SPIFR but it doesn't seem to be needed in that area. All the other operators in north and east Texas are VFR only and even CareFliite who has always advertised multi-engine SPIFR operations as the best thing since sliced bread is now getting away from that and buying BELL 407s.

I suppose PHI looks at cost vs benefits and decides if it's worth it or not. As long as a VFR base is getting the flights, why go IFR which adds costs like more training, higher pilot salary, additional maintenance, etc...

I've been with PHI one year and have been to Flight Safety 3 times (twice for the EC135P2+ and one for the BELL 407) and their training is superb so I'll keep waiting for that opening, meanwhile I'll enjoy flying down in the south side of Texas.

EMS. .. I'm working for tristate careflight for about a year now. I'm pretty happy with the company as a whole and happy with the koala. Was flying in eastern New Mexico but am in Arizona now. Would like to go much farther north but am plenty happy where I am.

Tried to post a picture but my photobucket ain't working.

You want to go north? I'm glad there are pilots who want to go north because I definitely I want to stay warm. The two arctic cold spells that came down last month were cold enough for me.

It's been cold. I have done some flying this winter in 0 degree weather in an R22 that isn't air tight. Definitely worn a few layers of clothing and running the heater in the ship when I have flown it. :) Even my students up here, that are used to living in the cold up here, don't want to hardly fly in it. Lol

Oh and Airflair. If you want to fly in the cold I have a couple of friends that fly for Metro Aviation doing EMS in Ohio. That can get colder for you.

You don't need photobucket. Don't reply with the quick reply box below, use the ADD REPLY button on the left above that box. Once the new page opens check towards the bottom where it shows message attachments and click on browse. Upload a picture and you're done !

Fun in Montana. A nice mule deer one of my clients shot last season but it wasn't really considered a trophy with only 3 pts per side - but it was 28" outside spread and weighed 320# at the scales. Damned nice if you ask me and my hunter was happy. Pic #2 is what I do to cool down when the temps get up into the 20's. At least I left my shorts on so it wasn't like cold .... Still haven't slowed down but no rotor work in a few years now. Wonder if I still know how? Hope you all are doing well and filling up your memory books. Rocky whoops pics seem to be too large

Rocky, I got your email but when I tried to reply it was going to info@justhelicopters. I didn't think you'd get it that way so yes, send them to me and I'll adjust them right now.

I’m on day shift and didn’t get the email until I got to work this morning. Work isn’t all it’s cut out to be when you have to work with people without work ethics but I’m sure you’ve lived that before. The only thing keeping me going is that I work for the best company in the world and that kind of makes up for it.

Send the pics and I’ll do it right now !

Carlos

These are the pictures Rocky was trying to post. I tried also but they came out huge again so I had to delete them and make them smaller, that's too much Rocky in one place !!!  Good thing he was wearing blue shorts because with all that white I was having a hard time seeing where he was in the snow, LMAO !!

Carlos, you might join this organization like I did many years ago (I think you had to have hovered over 20 years ago to be able to join). I'm a life member: http://www.twirlybirds.org/

Thanks. Did you get my reply to your email here? I replied to the notification but have no clue how to access emails here. You have my direct email if you need to contact me. I'm in Texas full time and only go to PR to visit family.

I'm an old guy - really old. But I still strap on a helicopter several times a week and take it somewhere, or fly on a fire somewhere. I'm still out there: watching, listening.... Tailwinds, Antique Examiner
