From what I understand yes. I've never called and asked so I can't be 100% sure. It's just the facts I've gathered through the grapevine. Maybe they might wave some of it if you have the mariner time but I doubt it. That would be like giving you a raise and you don't even work there yet.

To ALL here, just FYI:

I just called the # on the web site. Spoke to an individual that gave me a mental image of either a Used Car Salesman or a Timeshare rep.
I asked him where he was "located" and he replied with "I own 30 helicopters and GUARANTEE you job placement at 300 hours if you have $80K to give me for your training". WTF? (get off my leg)
Every direct question I asked was met with an evasive answer.
Besides, EVERYTHING I've read here and heard industry wide sounds less than legitimate in my opinion.
The clincher was being "hung-up" after asking WHERE he was located for the 3rd time...

You called from El Cajon, asked about Minneta which is San Jose and asked where I was in Las Vegas. So, now you set up a new account with N3176S which is a plane registered in Carson City. Your call and posting here are just….odd.

I'll jump in here and add my thoughts on my experience so far with Boatpix, I LOVE IT! I was working with a flight school in LA back in 2008-2009 but the school ran out of students and I out of money. I couldn't make it living in LA and barely flying. I tried driving all over the country applying at different school in person but it was clear I wasn't going to have any luck. I decided I needed to return home to Alaska to start working to make some money to pay down debt and save up money. I ended up going nearly 5 year without flying but started to chat with Tom and kept in contact with him over the years.

I finally decided to give myself one last chance to get back into flying. Knowing it was going to be near impossible for any school to look at me having been away from flying for 5 years, with low hours, an expired CFI and no recent references, I decided Boatpix was my best path back to flying.

I was very familiar with how the Boatpix internship worked and had my reservations about essentially paying for 100 hours of training to get a job flying, but I realized it was a small price to pay in order to get back in the saddle flying again. I had read all the posts on forums, and Facebook and seen some people raise concerns about the internship, but the main thing I found was that every person I talked to who had actually flown with Boatpix all had good experiences. Those that actually had flown with Boatpix all said Tom kept his word, they got hired, worked for a year or so, got tons of hours and all moved on to turbine jobs.

So far I have been flying with Boatpix for about 4 months. I started with 350 hours in March, I quickly got my 100 hours of boat training done (about 5 weeks) and was put to work the next day. The flying is tons of fun, and beats training in the pattern all day. I've been able to travel and fly in most of the Eastern US. I have been flying daily and have close to 700 hours now.

Boatpix does things a little differently than other flight schools and but for someone who is in a similar position as I was, I think there is no better option than Boatpix. If anyone has any questions or wants to chat about my experiences with Boatpix feel free to pm me or give me a call at 360-319-0254
