Hi guys, new to the forums here, have a question and some concerns regarding the future of unmanned flight. I'm sure most of you are already aware of the potential for pilots to someday start sharing some air space. I've been reading several articles and the FAA is scheduled to start testing for and gradually allowing drone safety tests and civilian use. Why is this interesting? well, there are a shortage of pilots and people with UAS experience those pilots, engineers, testers and system managers earn serious dollars even at starting wages. Compared to fully qualified Helicopter pilots who have to scrape things together to earn decent wages, its actually kind of disgusting. I am honestly considering putting more time into finding where to start getting experience to prepare for the boom. My question is, do you think instead of pursuing a career in manned aviation (in my case becoming a heli pilot)go and pay the same amount of costs to get qualified and potentially make much more money in the end operating drones. Or simply wait and see what happens and hop on the hype train when it comes. Either way the opportunity seems too good to turn a blind eye too, and in the end your still flying. Here is some of the reading i found in a few minutes. Would love to know what you think, Thanks! http://investigations.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/01/29/16726198-anticipating-domestic-boom-colleges-rev-up-drone-piloting-programs http://www.airliners.net/aviation-forums/military/read.main/150089/ http://www.uxvuniversity.com/masters-degree/

Not sure why all the formatting disappeared, any way to fix that?

Instead of flying fat, smelly, tourists around in a circle all day in a 44 for less than what a fry guy makes at Mikey-Ds, fly robots from an air conditioned trailer, make big bucks, buy a helicycle and fly for fun on my days off?

Hmm? I'm in!
