I want to learn to fly , but i see alot of these schools are targeted at vets - so it makes me question do i even have a shot at getting assistance for the schools and or getting a job anywhere after? flying is just something I've been passionate about but i certainly don't have the funds on my own to get the lisc . so if any one has advice for me please share , i really know next to nothing about how to get a loan assistance etc .

Find a school that is affiliated with a college. Enrolling in a degree program is usually how civilians get loans for flight training. The only way to see if you can get assistance is simply to apply. Talk with some schools and they will walk you through that process. Just know, you won't make enough money as a flight instructor (the only job you'll be able to get after graduation) to live and make loan payments, so plan ahead!

As for jobs, you may find one, you may not, its all a crap shoot!

Financing is usually no big deal, I'm a flight instructor at one of those schools that you think is targeted at vets, and its true that vets make up about 80% of the students, but we have to abide by the 85/15 rule that requires we have at least 15% of our students who are NOT vets.

That means you are a highly sought after student and my admissions coordinator would love to talk to you about options. Check out our school online or call us and have a one-on-one conversation, and you'll get some great information on achieving your goal of flying.

We have both airplane and helicopter programs, and if you'd like an aviation degree to compliment your certificates, we work hand in hand with Central Oregon Community College. Look us up on www.flybend.com or contact me personally and I'll get you into a place to teach you how to fly. It's my job to be your support structure in learning how to fly, and I love doing it!

Don't let this slip into your bucket list, this is a heck of a lot more attainable than you might think.
