Hello Friends;

I have been a member of this wonderful community since 2005 and I want to share something with you. After serving 12 years in the ARMY, I am planning to resign in August 2012 for my civilian jump to Airlines. I am currently FW Flight Instructor and Helicopter Pilot. I feel so strange and  I think that I'd feel like a fish out of fish when I make this leap. I have applied major airlines and waiting for their answers.

I always shared important milestones in my life  here, in the fraternity. Any comment/help/ suggestion is deeply appreciated.

Safe Landings&Tail Winds.

Cem

Hi Cem !

I've been away from the forum for a while and today decided to come back and take a look and see how it was doing.

It's real hard to give you my opinion on this because in order for it to be relevant I'd need to know what's the current state of the civilian airline market? What country are you planning on working? Things like that.

Since I have no clue about that I'll have to just wish you lots of luck and hope you get the best job out there with the best airline you can find!

One thing I'll tell you is stay away from Saudi airlines. I have a friend who works there and I have his resume He's very qualified and has been looking to leave for over a year but hasn't found much out there. I've heard many stories from him about the airline and I have flown as passenger many times also on Saudi. Not a good thing.

Be safe,
Carlos

Carlos,

Good to see you post. I bought an R22 Mariner from you in, like 2005, in Puerto Rico. I just got a call from one of my 930 hour TT pilots that got a job flying a TWINSTAR as350 twin turbine heli in NY on film work. Need to fill a position he is leaving in Millville, NJ right away .

Hi Tom. We talked at Heli-Expo a few months back. I'm sure with all the people you met with it might have slipped your mind.

I'm glad that pilot got a 355 job, good deal!

Be safe,

Carlos

G'day Cem, trust you are well.Sounds like you have the itch! Do you have a defence reserve you can stay connected with? (a cheap way to stay current!) All the best for the future whichever way you go! Steve

Hello Friends;

Today I had my interview one of the Major Airlines in my country and we shook hands. It was a very different experience for me to have a civilian interview. I feel very happy today, on the other hand, one side of my heart is aching. I think this is an end of my helicopter career. I think I would miss this magical machines. I have no intention to be away from here.

Safe landings and tail winds.

No Cem no position where I used to work in fact as soon as I got the owner his LOA and did all the paperwork for the heliport, and then as soon as went back for the 2nd time to try to pass the factory training, he told me he didn't need me anymore and fired me. Then he took all of the paperwork I prepared and filed for the heliport. Of course since he has no clue how to run a company I give it a few months before he goes under. Paying every month about $15k in fixed costs and only getting about $6k income a month (about 1 or 2 flights a day), you do the math.

But you live and you learn and just because he's a useless POS doesn't mean I'll stop helping people who ask me for help. I'll keep doing it anyway because unlike his parents who screwed him up royally, my parents did a great job raising me and showing me how to treat people.

I hope you get your job with the airlines. I did it for a bit in smaller regional planes but helicopters brought me back to reality. I'm waiting on a job right now also. Thy have a couple of open positions in the state I want to work in and I'm in contact with the HR people. Waiting on the area managers now to give me a call or whatever the next step is.

Let us know as soon as you get the call !

Carlos
