I believe the FF designates an E that was converted to be an FF. Where an "F" is factory original. We had talked about having our Es converted by MD for about $800K each. And they were calling them FF's. But in the end, its the same machine.

Just curious what the difference between the MD530F and MD530FF is?

The difference was an upgrade replacing the torque indicator, the tail rotor driveshaft and both couplings, additional decal, adjustment of the fuel control, and flight manual supplement for 425 HP, 3100# int. gross wt.

Most F’s have already had this “FF” conversion.

If you look at type certificate H3WE (rev.23; Note 12) this conversion was  documented on drawing 369D290100.

The E to FF conversion is documented on drawing 369D292202. The MD 530F’s main-rotor blades are six inches longer than the MD 500E. The tailboom is extended eight inches and the tail rotor blades have been lengthened to provide increased thrust and directional control at high altitudes. In addition, the MD 500E's engine is normally upgraded to the 250-C30.

369E = MD 500E

369F = MD 530F

369FF = MD 530F Plus

Type Certificate H3WE

Regards,
Chris
