Hello, new to these forums. I was wondering if anyone had information regarding the post 9/11 G.I. Bill for flight schools. I would like to learn to fly in California around the San Diego area. If anyone could give me information regarding VA approved schols in CA would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

In order to get the post 9/11 to pay for it all you must go through a college thats affiliated with a flight school. If you look on the VA web page and do a little research you will find all the info you need. You can also check out schools on this web page. I don't know anything about schools in CA, Im in Colorado and there are several schools in the midwest that is VA approved. Im using the post 9/11 now and its great if your VA rep knows the ins and outs. If they don't you will be a lost soul like I was for the first couple weeks. If you just try and do the flight training and avoid a affiliation with the college you will never get it 100% paid for, you MUST go through a college! Don't let those fools point you the wrong direction, some VA reps are worthless.

Hey I appreciate it. If you have to be part of a college to get 100% paid for do you have to get a degree with the college or is the college tied with the flight school?

You will get the degree along with your ratings, your flight time will be considered your "class." All your ratings to include private, commercial, instrument, CFI and if you so wish long line training, NVG and turbine option will be covered under the post 9/11. If you choose this route you will surely run into a instructor at your flight school who has been down the same road as you are about to go on, they are the ones you need to really listen to and soak in all the advice they give. Trust me, you can learn from their mistakes if you listen. Take a look at the schools syllabus and it will give you an accurate class schedule. If all goes well in a short two years you will walk away with a Associates degree and everything up to your CFI to include instrument ratings.

I would recommend the Ciaflightschool. They offer VA approved education programs where military personnel may utilize GI Bill benefits for flight training. I hope this helps, thanks.
