I just wanted to pass on my experience so maybe it can help someone else: Looking at civilian flight school, I couldn't take on that debt for training. I looked at the military and Active Duty was not my first choice, but they have a "Highschool to Flight School" option. After looking at my options, I decided on the National Guard. They don't have the "Highschool to Flight School". I knew that aviation is where I wanted to be whether I was flying or working on aircraft, so I enlisted as a turbine engine mechanic. After Basic and AIT, I started putting in as much time as I could at my Unit, working on aircraft and networking with my superiors. I put my Warrant Officer Packet together, and was just picked up for WOCS and then flight school. There has been some discussion about whether NG is a viable route. It has been great for me. I know that I am miles from done but am on the right track I hope. By the way, I'm 30 so it was getting close on the age waiver. Hope it helps.
