Looking for instruction in ag spraying, as well as any other related advice.

You touch on a subject near and dear to my heart. Years ago I asked where the new spray pilots would come from and who would train them. Back in the early 70's I started an ag school with both fi-phyxed wing and helicopters about the same time that Dr Carol Voss did in PA. All these years later, there are not many schools teaching it. I don't know of any today that I would recommend. Now it is more a matter of finding an operator who is willing to train you after you spend some time working as a grunt learning the business from the ground side as a loader or driver or flagger. With the advent of GPS, there are few human flaggers but you never know when the system will go offline. I have seen new pilots with 60 hours and a Private license who were willing to do their apprenticeship and are now flying as team leaders and have logged thousands of hours spraying. I've also seen pilots with several thousands of hours in helicopters who just couldn't get the concept or techniques of spraying and left after a couple weeks of trying. I think ag flying can make you as much money in a few months as any other kind of helicopter work in a year. But, some years are good and some are terrible. I much prefer the good ones.... As in any aspect of aviation, there are some good operators and there are those who are less than honest. If I can point you in the right direction please contact me via private email to avoid potential problems with offended "schools". OGHF

Risk is the price you pay to avoid a dull life.
