This is what MD (Patriarch Patners LLC) needs to do, IMHO. As discussed in other threads, why not attempt to bridge that piston-to-turbine gap by offering ab-initio turbine training. Frank Robinson bridged the “entry level CFI gap” with the R22 and his own insurance coverage for those new 150 hour CFI’s. And, nobody can deny the success of the Robinson product. So, MD listen up. Strip the 500E. Go back to the 4 bladed rotor system but keep the elastomeric Dampers. Remove the C20 and re-install the C18. Limit to 2 occupants (front seats only limitation) and the rear area to “cargo only limitation” with a weight restriction. Install (or re-install depending on your opinion) the low skid gear. Forget all the bell and whistles and comfort items. All of this is to reduce weight, initial acquisition cost, Direct Operating Cost, R&D cost and you can keep it on the 500 Type certificate. Market it as the 500T for Trainer. Proposed initial purchase price of 500 to 600K and a DOC at approximately 300 hr. If any of you MD or Patriarch Partners, LLC folks have any questions the email is good. Well, at least I can say it was my idea! Spike
